Prediction

This is the final blog question!

What is your prediction?

  1. My prediction is that the cartels in Mexico will cooperate in the form of a coalition or union. This will come about out of necessity to escape the costs of war not only with each other nut also with the government.

  2. I predict a Mitch Daniels victory.

The poll numbers absolutely don't support the prediction at this point, but I think the logic is solid. I don't think anybody would've predicted John McCain as the GOP nominee in April of 2007, either. The poll numbers fluctuate so much that there's no sense in relying on them until it's almost moot. Daniels has solid fiscal credentials, executive experience, a dour seriousness, and a good chance of securing the endorsement of value-voters darling Mike Pence (in exchange for assisting a rumored run by Pence for the governorship of Indiana, where Daniels is the current governor).

  3. I predict that the international community will gradually diversify toward the euro, and that the euro will become a significant rival reserve currency to the dollar. This prediction is dependent upon the assumptions that the major members of the E.U. will keep the euro, and that the yuan will not be allowed to float on the currency market.

  4. I predict that, when the healthcare reform laws are brought before the Supreme Court, the initial vote will be in favor of upholding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which was passed last year, if Justice Sonia Sotomayor decides to vote in favor of upholding the law. If she decides to vote in favor of a repeal, then the initial vote will favor its repeal. Sotomayor occupies a swing seat, according to my calculations. However, the probability (based on the Prince System) states that there is a 71% chance that the law will be repealed. This comes from the fact that a few judges with more power will influence those who are not as fixed in their position. After the 30-minute interval to discuss each side of the argument, the vote will be retaken and at least one of the Justices will change positions and swing the vote in favor of repealing the healthcare reform law, no matter which side Sonia Sotomayor decides to take.

  5. My prediction is that while the publishing company continues to sell existing HP merchandise, Rowling will work on a new companion book. This is a trade off allowing the publishing company to make more money, and Rowling to work on a project that doesn't require her to put out too much effort. I also think that while the profits of the Harry Potter series have been phenominal, the amount of money made on further projects will go down. Some readers are just ready to move on to new projects.

  6. I predict that, due to political intention and the parties wanting nothing to do with one another, no new healthcare legislation will be passed. Also, this is likely due to the fact that the 2012 election is right around the corner, and nobody who wants to do anything that'll stir stuff up.

  7. I predict that the courts will legalize human embryonic stem cell harvesting and research, but will put a timeline on changing the source of the stem cells that are being used in research.

  9. I predict that, with the number of actors in favor of creating a better government and with the pressure from many of the citizens, that a democracy will form in Egypt once the elections take place.

  10. My prediction is that the status quo will remain especially these laws being so fresh. The country isn't ready nor do they want change. The precarious situation in which Haitian-Dominicans find themselves will most likely remain for several years as sad as that may be.

  11. My prediction is that the death penalty will be reinstated in New Mexico in 2012.

  12. I predict that the most likely outcome is that the Supreme Court, by a narrow margin, will declare SB 1070 constitutional.
