Actors

Who are the people (actors) involved in the situation you are forming a prediction for?

(Also, if you ever have questions about the blog questions--like they're vague or something--feel free to email me or ask about it during class.)

  1. So far my actors include; Each Cartel (there is seven or eight, I'm not gonna name them all), The Mexican Government, and the Government of the United States. Please feel free to tell me if I'm forgetting any.

  2. The actors in my prediction are the author, JK Rowling, her publishing companies (mainly Bloomsbury Publishing in the UK, and the readership. Each actor has an important role in the final decision as to any future books. Rowling must make a decision based on whether or not her publishing company agrees that there is enough demand from readers for her writing to continue.

  3. The actors are the Senate (especially the committee on Health, Education, Labor, & Pension and it's Chair Tom Harkin), the House (With the committee on Oversight and Government Reform), President Obama, insurance company lobbyists, and the public.

  4. The actors involved are the Obama administration, the scientists receiving funding, some medical associations interested in using the results of the research, the court (representing constitution/ law), and pro- or anti- abortion related groups.

  5. I've decided to change the emphasis of my prediction to what the Supreme Court will decide as to the healthcare reform laws and the many governors that are fighting its continuing implementation in the US. Therefore, the actors in my prediction will include the nine Supreme Court Justices who will be making the decision. Although there are other people who may be influencing the Justices, I will focus only on them for my paper and prediction.

  6. The actors involved in my prediction are President Obama, the Republican Party, and whoever the Republican party nominates to run for President in 2012.

  7. My topic is wether and to what degree will we start pulling troops out of Afghanistan in July of 2011. The actors for my prediction are the President, Congress, and the Afghan government. These are rather vague and generalized actors, but if I go into detail such as involving the military, the "situation" on the ground, the feelings of the American people, the feelings of the Afghan people, etc...Then things would get vastly more complicated and would make my paper "impractical."(As Hari Seldon would say)

  8. There are two major political parties that are influential actors in the Egyptian elections: the National Democratic Party and the New Wafd Party. The NDP does not intend to label a candidate until July, but El-Sayyid El-Badawi was proposed as a possible candidate for the New Wafd Party. The Muslim Brotherhood and the National Association for Change are two opposition movements that can also play a huge part. The NAC is a supporter of Mohammed ElBaradei who has become an important political figure within the past year. The military, which is currently in power until the elections, can also influence the government during their reign of power. Last, the public (including the protesters who urged Mubarak to leave) can determine the end result as well.

  9. I think the actors for my research is the Dominican gov't, International Human rights organizations(like UN, Amnesty International, ect.), the haitian diaspora in DR, the dominican people( more specifically protestors, political activists, organizations and unions), and probably workers unions and/or businesses.

  10. The major actors for my predictive paper project consist of the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Japan, the European Union, the World Bank, the national central banks, and the International Monetary Fund. These actors would have a large influence on the transition to new reserve-currency for the world.

  11. For my prediction paper the main actors are Governor Susanna Martinez and the New Mexico Legislature (both the House of Representatives and the Senate). The legislature would include the current members and those who may be elected in the next election. Other actors would probably include the New Mexico court system.

  13. Changing my focus slightly, the actors are primarily the members of the Supreme Court - Chief Justice John Roberts, Justices Samuel Alito, Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Anthony Kennedy, Antonin Scalia, Sonia Sotomayor, and Clarence Thomas. President Obama and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer also have some influence, along with several other actors, up until the issue reaches the Supreme Court.
